Soul fiction is a literary genre combining all the best stuff in literary fiction,
like the beautiful prose, a realness, and a philosophical and emotional depth,
with escape from our daily tedium as found in the genre imaginative fiction,
meaning books that may be set in an alternate timeline, or have talking dogs,
or where magic is commonplace and supernatural creatures roam the lands,
or where advances yet to be in science and technology are already history,
deftly mixed into stories with the modest aim of enabling spiritual elevation.
This site is a good place to introduce the first in a series of such soul fictions,
serious and funny novels that revere language but also have a yarn to spin.
The first book is about burning giraffes. It’s based on a true story.
